Raised in Northern California, Avery moved to Charleston to attend the College of Charleston, where she earned degrees in Studio Art, Historic Preservation, and Business. She began her career at a local interior design firm, working there during college and following graduation. Shortly after leaving her first "big girl" job, she found herself feeling a bit lost — until she did what she had always done: pulled out the paint and brushes. What began as a creative reset quickly reignited her deepest passion.
Today, she paints as often as possible — though there never seem to be enough hours in the day. When she’s not in the studio, she can usually be found with her nose in a book, wandering the streets of downtown Charleston… and sometimes doing both at once.
Inspired by history, architecture, dance, and her travels, she creates work that reflects both her technical training and her love for storytelling through visual art. Her choice of mediums shifts fluidly from piece to piece, often incorporating graphite, charcoal, acrylic, gouache, ink, and oil paint on both canvas and paper. She founded The Alchemist’s House as a creative brand designed to evolve alongside her ever-expanding interests and passions, serving as a home for all her artistic pursuits. While she still loves and appreciates the world of interior design, she has found immense joy leaning into the process of creating physical pieces of art.
The Alchemist’s House was born from a desire to transform inspiration into tangible beauty, a place where art becomes both personal and universal. Rooted in curiosity and experimentation, it exists as a studio and sanctuary where history, architecture, and movement are distilled into visual form. Each work is created with the intention of sparking connection—between past and present, artist and viewer, idea and emotion. The Alchemist’s House is an ongoing journey of exploration, storytelling, and creative transformation.
